Wanting to combine my personal photography with some data visualizations, I went to one of my favorite JavaScript libraries, D3.js. The idea was to visualize the timeline of a project I did while living in Denver the first time. The project started when we moved into a tall building with great views of the Front Range, and Mount Blue Sky (then Mount Evans). I would leave the camera on the tripod and just step onto the balcony whenever a scene captured my attention. Thanks to a baby, I was frequently up early, and managed to get sunrise shots, something I would typically not frequently capture otherwise.
The visualization was turned into a WordPress plugin for use on the Mount Blue Sky Photos website.
